Heal with the support of a therapist

If you are struggling with life challenges, you are not alone. Throughout our lives each person typically experiences sleep difficulty, relationship difficulty, trauma, loss, grief, and emotional difficulties may arise because of normal day to day activities. If you are experiencing symptoms that are not typical for you, it may be time to seek mental health support. You may notice an effect on your concentration, sleep, ability to perform your role, your relationship or another area of your life
  • A panic attack is an episode of intense fear and stress which usually comes over suddenly. Panic attacks can be very scary to experience. Each panic attack may only last a few minutes, however they can leave a person feeling physically and emotionally drained for some time. Panic attacks can also be embarrassing for someone to experience, especially if they occur in a public place. Panic disorder occurs when multiple panic attacks are experienced.

  • Life is full of ups and downs and unexpected events. Whilst it is normal to experience short periods when things might seem more difficult, if you find they are happening more frequently and more intensely, you might be suffering from what is called depression. Depression is different to feelings of general sadness and it doesn’t necessarily have a “cause” or be related to a negative event in your life.

  • Everyone responds differently to a traumatic event and two people can respond differently to the same event. The onset of PTSD can be immediate or delayed, no two people are the same. If you are experiencing symptoms of PTSD because of a recent or historical event; the good news is PTSD and C-PTSD are treatable and help is available. A range of treatment options are available and the effectiveness of treatment varies between types and between individuals. Speak with one of our therapists today to begin your healing journey.

  • Anxious thoughts can be helpful at times, to help you take action when you accidentally leave the oven on or forget to turn he stove off. If these thoughts become recurring individuals may develop unhealthy patterns of behaviour that can cause difficulties in daily functioning. Obsessively thinking 'I've left the oven on' can lead to repeated checking. Some people with OCD feel intense shame, which can lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment. OCD is treatable and the first step to healing is to seek support from a therapist.

  • There are many types of eating disorders that can impact anyone. Eating disorders are common across society in men and women. Eating disorders arise from a number of different factors including situational stressors, social pressures and individual vulnerability through personality factors and hereditary factors. If left untreated, habits can become obsessions and can be very harmful. Eating disorders are not only harmful and distressing to the individual, they also affect the individuals friends and family. Treatment is available.

  • Victims of childhood abuse often continue to suffer well after the abuse has ceased, carrying feelings of guilt, shame and disgust into adulthood. Childhood abuse is common in society and you are not alone. Childhood abuse is often not reported by the victim as the perpetrators can often be trusted adults, the victim may feel fear of retribution of punishment or the victim may fear stigma or feel shame with being a victim of abuse. Victims of childhood abuse often also feel that opening up to others about their experiences will cause them further emotional pain and discomfort. If you’ve survived childhood abuse therapy can assist you on your road to recovery.

  • Dissociative disorders involve problems with memory, identity, emotion, perception, behavior and sense of self. Dissociative symptoms can potentially disrupt every area of mental functioning. Examples of dissociative symptoms include the experience of detachment or feeling as if one is outside one’s body, and loss of memory or amnesia. Dissociative disorders are frequently associated with previous experience of trauma.
